PurposeEarthquakes pose a significant challenge to human safety and the durability of infrastructure, highlighting the urgent need for innovative disaster management strategies. This study addresses the gap in current earthquake disaster management approaches, which are often related to issues of transparency, centralization and sluggish response times. By exploring the integration of blockchain technology into seismic hazard management, the purpose of the research is to overcome these limitations by offering a novel framework for integrating blockchain technology into earthquake risk mitigation and disaster management strategies of smart cities.Design/methodology/approachThis study develops an innovative approach to address these issues by introducing a blockchain-based seismic monitoring and automated decision support system for earthquake disaster management in smart cities. This research aims to capitalize on the benefits of blockchain technology, specifically its real-time data accessibility, decentralization and automation capabilities, to enhance earthquake disaster management. The methodology employed integrates seismic monitoring data into a blockchain framework, ensuring accurate, reliable and comprehensive information. Additionally, smart contracts are utilized to handle decision-making and enable rapid responses during earthquake disasters, offering an effective alternative to traditional approaches.FindingsThe study results highlight the system’s potential to foster reliability, decentralization and efficiency in earthquake disaster management, promoting enhanced collaboration among stakeholders and facilitating swift actions to minimize human and capital loss. This research lays the foundation for further exploration of blockchain technology’s practical applications in other disaster management contexts and its potential to transform traditional practices.Originality/valueCurrent methodologies, while contributing to the reduction of earthquake-related impacts, are often hindered by limitations such as lack of transparency, centralization and slow response times. In contrast, the adoption of blockchain technology can address these challenges and offer benefits over various aspects, including decentralized control, improved security, real-time data accessibility and enhanced inter-organizational collaboration.

The data will be subjected to several steps for analysis by a variety of parties, which raises the issue of trust in this context. There is a risk that the organizations involved in the analytical stages may abuse the data, which might contain private or sensitive information. Consequently, data privacy considerations should be carefully considered at this time. Methodology/Findings: A definition of "data privacy" is the practice of limiting access to information according to how important it is. People are usually very comfortable giving out their names to strangers, but they'll wait to give out their mobile phone numbers until they're more familiar with the individual. In this era of digital technology, important personal information is often the target of individuals' efforts to protect their data. From a business's point of view, data privacy encompasses more than just employees' and consumers' private information. Data privacy issues are often believed to be a barrier to the widespread adoption of AI and ML-driven technology. The reason for this is that ML can only be trained and tested on very large data sets. Implications to Theory, Practice and Policy: Imagine a world where trust is impossible to establish; here is where Blockchain technology might be useful. Blockchain uses the data anonymously. In this study, we provide a solution that ensures data security by integrating Blockchain technology with machine learning (Alfandi et al., 2020).

Building a secure electronic voting system that offers the fairness and privacy of current voting schemes, while providing the transparency and flexibility offered by electronic systems has been a challenge for a long time. The adoption of reasonable reward and penalty mechanisms can prevent opportunistic behaviours and stimulate data sharing among businesses. It is noteworthy that blockchain technology and data alliance have a mutually substitutive effect in terms of risk and communication costs, while they complement each other in regulatory and transaction costs. The integration of blockchain technology with data alliance can enhance collaborative revenue and reduce various costs. Additionally, users can seamlessly store their own documents within their personalized accounts, enhancing the platform's user-centric functionality. Toward better blockchain-enabled energy trading between electric vehicles and smart grids in Internet of Things environments: a survey

With the rise of the 3Ds—decarbonization, decentralization, and digitalization—the number of electric vehicles is projected to increase, necessitating the implementation of modern technologies to avoid unnecessary energy wastage. Numerous studies have been developed proposing electric vehicle (EV) charging frameworks in networks empowered by renewable energy resources. In addition, more focus has recently been directed on incorporating blockchain technology to assure security and transparency in trading systems. However, fewer studies have delved into developing a practical implementation of their solution due to the complexity of the topic. Therefore, this paper thoroughly investigates integrating blockchain technology in electric vehicle charging systems, analyzing the existing practical implementation and their characteristics. It comprises 48 relevant studies between 2017 and 2023, covering the following main research areas: (i) renewable energy-based electric charging systems, (ii) blockchain frameworks used in energy trading, and (iii) performance metrics of simulated and implemented solutions. Results show that blockchain applications in EVs and energy trading systems are highly current, and researchers are actively exploring ways to improve their efficiency and effectiveness.

This approach aims to leverage blockchain's capabilities to overcome the limitations of traditional traceability systems in the agricultural sector. This research paper explores the role of blockchain technology in enhancing supply chain transparency and efficiency, focused on food and agriculture sector. It underscores the growing consumer demand for authentic product and the challenges of maintaining transparency is increasingly becoming difficult in global and complex markets. Findings reveal that blockchain has significant capabilities to increases transparency, traceability, and security, while potentially reducing costs and errors. However, the study also identifies challenges, such as technological complexities, scalability issues, regulatory uncertainties, and integration hurdles. A strategic framework for adopting blockchain in retail supply chains is proposed, offering insights for practitioners and policy considerations. The paper also designs a novel traceability system for agricultural product supply chains, employing blockchain technology to address issues such as centralized management, opaque information, and data unreliability. The purpose of the study is to assess the impact of blockchain integration on reducing corruption risks in the realm of virtual assets. It was found that since the introduction of blockchain, Estonia has almost doubled the ranking of countries in anti-corruption. According to the study, the volume of illegal cryptocurrency transactions continues to grow, requiring financial systems to adapt to new challenges. The prospect of further research should be based on strengthening financial security. The scientific novelty lies in the recognition of blockchain technologies’ potential as a tool for ensuring transparency and information inviolability within the virtual assets realm. Digital Logistics and Blockchain Utilization on Global Supply Chain Management

Global supply chain management faces several challenges, such as lack of transparency, traceability, and efficiency, leading to fraudulent activities, lost revenues, and poor customer satisfaction. This study addressed these challenges by investigating the potential effects of integrating blockchain technology and digital logistics in supply chain management. The research design is a mixed-method study involving a sample size of 230 respondents involved in the supply chain management industry. The respondents are selected using a random stratified random sampling technique, and the inclusion criteria will be that they must work in a company that utilizes digital logistics. The researcher gathered data through online surveys, and SPSS was used to analyze the data. The results show that the level of digitization of global supply chain management is high. Further, the utilization of digital logistics and blockchain technology in global supply chain management is highly evident. However, these companies always need help utilizing digital logistics and blockchain technology. Also, there is a significant effect on digital logistics, blockchain technology, and global supply chain management. All in all, companies can use this technology to gain a competitive advantage, reduce costs, and increase customer satisfaction.  

Blockchain technology integration in tax policy: Navigating challenges and unlocking opportunities for improving the taxation of Ghana's digital economy

In an era marked by a profound digital transformation of economies worldwide, Ghana stands as a vivid example of a nation at the crossroads of taxation evolution. The country's tax policies are undergoing a significant shift to adapt to the burgeoning digital economy, with a keen focus on capturing and regulating the ever-expanding revenue streams generated through online enterprises. This research explored the potential of integrating blockchain technology with tax policy. Unstructured and semi-structured interview questions were designed to obtain insight into the problem. A survey was conducted to obtain views on the variables that explained the potential of integrating blockchain technology with tax policy to enhance the effectiveness of taxing online enterprises in Ghana. The study used correlation analysis to confirm propositions derived from preliminary interview and the review of literature. It was found that while blockchain offers significant advantages in bridging the gap for effective online taxation in Ghana, there are challenges which include institutional and regulatory conformity issues, technical integration and alignment incompatibility, and inadequate stakeholder engagement. This result may be useful in the design of tax online tax policy in Ghana and other jurisdictions with similar socio-economic environment.

Smart contracts are utilized to automate various aspects of the recruitment process, such as job application submissions, candidate evaluations, and offer acceptance, facilitating trustless interactions between parties.In parallel, the CBF approach is employed to provide personalized job recommendations to candidates based on the analysis of their skills, qualifications, and preferences. By analyzing the content of job descriptions and candidate profiles, the system generates tailored recommendations that match the expertise and interests of the candidates, improving the likelihood of successful placements.The proposed system offers several advantages over traditional placement management systems, including increased transparency, reduced operational costs, minimized bias in job recommendations, and enhanced security of sensitive data. Through the synergy of blockchain technology and content-based filtering techniques, the BPMS aims to revolutionize the recruitment industry by fostering trust, efficiency, and fairness in the job market.

Analysis of corporate management risks in the work of logistics enterprises

Relevance of the problem. Complexity in the global supply chain increase the risks that enterprises are exposed to, including logistics. Purpose of the article. The article analyzes the corporate management risks of logistics enterprises. Methods. The article used the method of statistical groupings and statistical tables, the game theory method, the matrix game method. Main results. The study substantiates an algorithm for the analysis of corporate management risks of using blockchain technologies in the activities of logistics companies when concluding smart contracts, certifying new types of transportation, and integrating cryptocurrency for delivery payments. Examples of choosing an economic strategy for managing the risks of a logistics company using the criteria of maximax, Laplace, Wald, Savage, Bayesian, Hurwicz were elaborated. Referring to the relevant calculations, it was determined that the most often recommended strategy was “the certification of new types of logistics services”. It was determined that this strategy will contribute to minimizing the logistics company's risks associated with the implementation of blockchain technology through ensuring the competitive position through innovation.
